Lexis Nexis is a powerful tool. See description from wikipedia -

LexisNexis Group is a corporation providing computer-assisted legal research services.[2][3] During the 1970s, LexisNexis pioneered the electronic accessibility of legal and journalistic documents.[4] As of 2006, the company has the world's largest electronic database for legal and public-records related information.[5]

Our program has decided to implement it into our Law 12, 13, 17 and 34 classes to train our paralegals with this tool, and to make them more employable once they graduate.  As part of the package that students purchase, they can take several modules and become lexis certified (again a great opportunity, but voluntary and NOT required as part of this class) -

Although it is listed as a textbook by the bookstore, what you purchase is access to the tool. We will have assignments using lexis, and you need to purchase it. Here is how you do that.

1. go to the LAMC bookstore site - http://eagleslanding.lamission.edu

2.  under buy textbooks, click on Spring 2014, then select law course, and your class, and your instructor, and only select for the cart Lexisnexis Paralegal Program - Lexis Advance Id'sLexisnexisISBN 978-0-8400-3516-5, $84.75, and then go to checkout, (you have to login to create an account first - it requests shipping information,. please fill this is as required information,  but there is NO shipping for access of Lexis, then click on "shipping information" and select "Pick up in Store" ( you do not have to personally pick it up, but you do not want the system to charge you for shipping, so select Pick up in store), then continue you will get payment information $84.75, plus tax $7.63 - order total $92.38, and go ahead and pay with your credit card.

3. Once you have purchased the textbook, email the bookstore  person in charge of issuing lexis passwords, Pabla Rosales - rosalepr@lamission.edu  or call her at 818-364-7654.  She will process your payment, and issue you a username and passcode.

No other textbook is required for the class

good luck.
