INSTRUCTOR SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT

DISTANCE EDUCATION COORDINATOR

Located on 426 acres in the West San Fernando Valley, Pierce College combines state-of-the-art technology and learning with the picturesque beauty of its rolling hills.  With enrollment of more than 18,000 students per semester, the college’s emphasis on student success makes it an educational leader statewide with a reputation for innovation and academic excellence.

 

Pierce College is now seeking to expand its outstanding faculty by offering a

full-time, twelve-month Distance Education Coordinator position to be responsible for the day-to-day operations, coordination, and maintenance of Pierce’s Center for Teaching and Learning with Technology.

Minimum Qualifications

 

§       Meets minimum qualifications of his/her teaching discipline

§       Experience integrating technology with teaching

§       Excellent  written and interpersonal communication skills

§       Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff and students.

 

Desirable Qualifications

 

Leadership

§       Provides vision and leadership in the area of educational technology and distance education.

§       Develops goals, policies and procedures which affect distance learning instruction at Pierce College.

§       Organizes and balances multiple priorities, is flexible, and responds to ever-changing priorities and needs.

§       Analyzes and solves problems.

§       Meets deadlines and handles multiple simultaneous projects.

§       Plans, designs, and builds effective online certificate and degree programs with an emphasis on increasing FTES, data collection, and assessment of student learning.

§       Works effectively in a team setting and effectively communicates with faculty, administrators, technology professionals, peers, and students with varied technical understanding.

 

 

 

 

 

Technical

§       Stimulates interest and involves faculty in developing online and web-enhanced courses.

§       Assists faculty in the planning and implementation of instructional technology.

§       Keeps current in the field of educational technology and distance education delivery systems.

§       Possesses knowledge and experience in developing training materials for distance delivery based on best practices, research, and various learning theories.

§       Possesses knowledge and experience in web based/distance learning delivery systems, accessibility and usability standards, operating systems, and software applications.

§       Demonstrates multimedia skills to support instruction.

§       Conducts or coordinates training classes and seminars for faculty on instructional technologies for teaching online.

 

Salary and Benefits:  The current starting range is from $56,736 to $88,332 for the academic year depending on education and experience.  The PhD differential is $2,850 per academic year.  The District provides an excellent benefit package including medical, vision, dental and life insurance to the employee and eligible dependents.
