PreparED Learning evolved from a close partnership between the Collaborative Brain Trust (CBT) and Intellus Learning. Together, we as partners design innovative educational products built on decades of experience in software design and engineering, instructional design, and media theory, along with strategic planning, enrollment planning and educational master planning.

Patrick McCallum, CEO and Co-Founder, has over 30 years of experience advocating for others and facilitating the change they want to see in the world. Described as “an amazing strategist with integrity and persistence,” Patrick is a widely recognized expert on higher education issues, and considered one of the most savvy, influential higher ed policy experts in the United States. Mr McCallum states that "we believe that one of the major issues facing most colleges and universities is underprepared students. Along with the best practices and student success strategies we have developed for many community colleges and universities, we are using new technology advances to help administrators, faculty, and student success staff prepare students for the large demands of higher education, and to ultimately help them succeed."

Steven Hammersly, Co-Founder, spent the first 15 years of his career in the IT consulting and software industry, and the past 15 years working at Pearson Education developing digital learning product partnerships, doing mergers and acquisitions, and was one of the executives responsible for Pearson’s entry into the e-textbook, mobile learning application, and audio education supplement spaces. He is also a member of the Media Studies graduate faculty at the New School for Public Engagement, in NYC, where he teaches courses in Media Economics, IT Fundamentals for Creatives, and Media Technology in Education.

CBT is a team of over 200 top-level executives, university administrators, and organizational experts who create custom practical solutions for meeting today’s educational challenges. CBT also provides any consulting and implementation resources that may be needed, as part of a larger student success initiative that includes PreparED.

Intellus Learning, a unit of Macmillan Publishing, is an educational-platform-as-service company that gathers information across the internet, and inside their client institutions, to help faculty and administrators find and evaluate the best, most affordable digital content for each learner, while providing actionable data on course engagement and success. Its innovative educational products integrate with existing Learning Management Systems at its over 50 client sites. Over one million students have taken courses delivered from the Intellus platform.

With a patented approach to machine learning, Intellus indexes the millions of content learning objects in use at an institution and provides real-time analytics on student usage. By organizing the wealth of digital learning assets owned or licensed by the institution, the platform provides transparency to all stakeholders to better inform resource allocation and instructional design.

Founded in 2011, Intellus has indexed over 50 million online learning resources such as books, articles, videos, and digital content items by spanning library archives, publisher and institutional databases, as well as major open educational resource (OER) repositories.

“Our platform provides greater visibility for educators so they can better control each course outcome,” said Intellus Founder and CEO, David Kim. “That is our mission: to make teaching and learning easier for faculty by providing a personalized and affordable learning experience for students.”
